Don’t get me wrong, I still love to have a glass of red wine, a margarita or an aperol spritz on occasion, but ever since cutting back on drinking I feel SO much better mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Alcohol is a depressant, so although it might bring about some short-term fun, it will never benefit your mental health long-term.

A lot of times we drink to “take the edge off” or to relax at the end of a day, but when you cut back on drinking you’re faced to deal with the root cause as to why you’re resorting to alcohol to begin with.

When this happens you’re able to move through whatever emotion, situation, or thought pattern that is causing you to crave the drink and release it.

Reflect on your relationship with alcohol and ask yourself what your intention is for drinking. Whether it’s to have fun, let loose, take the edge off, overcome social anxiety, feel more confident, etc. and ask yourself if can you find a way to move through those feelings/thoughts without it?
