if you love intimate japanese bars this is the one for you!

located in fortune centre, its interior is masked and hidden by a japanese-inspired vending machine that you have to push open to enter, which i thought was so cool and creative, and adds to the whole experience

i was honestly so shocked and amazed by the interior- it’s a lot smaller than i thought, which made it super intimate!

we sat at one of the lower seats, just in front of a wall decked with japanese anime posters (such a vibe) and as someone who loves studio ghibli, it was easy for me to spot the movie posters all around!

the only thing you shld take note is that it can get a little noisy since it’s quite an enclosed space, otherwise it didn’t rly bother me bc it added to the atmosphere!

the staff were also super friendly and welcoming, and would sing birthday songs, announce changes in music- all which adds to the intimate scene of the bar

def a plus point!

• 2 bottles of blood orange umeshu ($88 each)

tasting notes (taken from their menu): plenty of blood orange from uwajima city, slightly sweet and refreshing distinct aftertaste of blood orange- alcohol 8%

as someone who doesn’t like strong alcoholic drinks, this drink was the one for me bc it was sweet + the sweetness of the blood orange overrode the alcoholic taste~ we shared 2 bottles among 4 of us 🤭

• angry asari soup ramen ($16)

the base of the soup consists of white miso with a pork-bone broth

it was really delicious and flavourful, and i loved how the clams added a sweet factor to it

the texture of noodles were just right for me too!

the star of the ramen was def the chilli paste, it added a kick (not too hard of a kick!)

• signature nagoya dry ramen prawn ($20)

mazesoba-style ramen, their signature dry ramen

i loved how springy and flavourful it was, especially with that sous vide egg and juicy prawns! yummy

• wagyu is the new black chahan ($22)

my friend ordered this and said it was super smokey and delicious- a burst of umami flavours… wagyu was super tender too

• 8 kushi moriwase ($18)

you’ll get 8 freshly grilled skewers, depending on what the chef gives you that day~

we got the mushrooms, teriyaki chicken, and grilled chicken!

the mushrooms were flavourful and juicy

teriyaki chicken was super tender and every bite was so delicious

i would say the grilled chicken was a miss for me~

ume san is definitely a hit for me, i’ll def be back to try their other drinks and food items! maybe during lunch time! super enjoyable and vibey too~
