Meet the new charcuterie board…the tinned fish board! I planned a picnic at the park for my friends and it was such a fun and unique theme. The centerpiece was the board, and people brought fruit, veggies, drinks, chips, dessert, and other sides to share.
Here’s how I created this beautiful sea-cuterie board using ingredients from Trader Joe’s.
Tip #1 : Arrange in 3s
Start with 4-5 different kinds of canned seafood and place them around the board. Then, for each item, create three small piles and spread them out around the board. I used fresh cucumbers, olives, cornichon pickles, capers, marinated artichokes, crackers, and fresh bread. Spreading smaller piles out gives a nice pop of color throughout the board and makes it look organized but still messy in a good way.
Tip #2 : Have a variety of colors
These boards look the best when there are a few different colors to make it look like a work of art. The fish, crackers, and bread are all kind of the same color, so find things like fresh veggies, herbs, olives, etc. to provide more color.
Tip #3 : Add dips and hot sauce on the side
I brought a garlic dip, hot sauce, and fresh dill for the side of the board, and they definitely added a lot of necessary flavor to accompany the fish. Get creative with different flavor combinations!
