mouth-watering & authentic xlb in shanghai 🤤

hello 🍋 8 friends, happy thursday!! today’s #storytime is yet another shanghai’s #musttry food, 📍莱莱小笼 （lai lai xiao long) at Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. i love good xiao long bao, especially those with thin skin & juicy meat 🤤🤤!

in my recent trip to shanghai, i discovered this store via xiaohongshu app, highly recommended by both locals and tourists! this store received multiple awards like michelin & dazhongdianpin top recommendation. so i went down to try and it’s so 👍🏼👍🏼! not exactly the cheapest but it’s pretty worthy for the price (check out image 2 for the price). what caught my attention was that their vinegar and ginger is 1rmb per sauce plate 🥺🤦🏻‍♀️. i had to order 4 plates of it because i love vinegar too much 🤭.

interior: their interior is not exactly the biggest but they are smart at how they make use their space. they really managed to fit a lot of tables and chairs but it might be a bit squeezy (lack of personal space). if you are in 1-2 pax they will ask you to share table with others. but bobian right, we want to eat popular food w/o waiting for too long, so we’ll just squeeze abit la.

the wait: you will order at the counter and make payment first (cash, app, etc). they also have a sign stating during peak hours, you are only allowed to order once (soooo, order everything at once!!). the wait for food isn’t very long, around 5-10 minutes like that 👍🏼.

food: personally, i would recommend their both their xlb (蟹粉 crab meat & 鲜肉 meat) as well as the fried pork chop 🤤! bascially, all their food is pretty gd but xlb and pork chop is more memorable for my family and i.
