Revert Journey

Where I am currently in my journey.

If im being honest, Im lonely. 😂 One of the most beautiful things amongst Muslims is the community. I fantasize about having a small genuine group of Muslim sisters to grown in deen with. I’ve always had difficulty making friends and feeling like I was apart of something. For some reason (probably because Muslims are so welcoming & accepting) I thought this would be different. A little easier in a way. I was wrong.

Don’t get me wrong, the sisters are definitely welcoming. There’s no issue there. It’s just they always tell us reverts “go to the masjid go to the masjid go to the masjid”. And that’s fine but what happens when you’re at the masjid sitting in a room full of sisters & no one has said anything to you except As-salaamu ‘alaykum…? Or if you do exchange numbers with someone you’re the one always starting conversation & if you don’t start it y’all just don’t speak. It sucks. I don’t have anyone to teach me anything or to assist me. Everything is on my own other than a few sites someone sent me a little while back.

The stories you hear about reverts giving up on Islam makes you so sad. But as a new revert currently going though this struggle, I understand why people leave. I’m not… but i get it. It’s difficult. Especially if you’re in your late 20s like myself.
