MENSTRUAL CUP CHANGED MY LIFE!!!

It's so empowering that, as a woman, I can do my bit to not only save the planet, but also make my periods more comfortable and affordable 🫶🏼

I first heard about the menstrual quite awhile ago from a people that couldn’t stop raving about them. it took me like a forever to buy the menstrual cup and and i’m so scared HAHA I was sceptical at first and was absolutely terrified at the thought of putting a small suction cup inside my vagina, but who wouldn’t be? I finally gave in and bought one.

• What is a menstrual cup and how does it work?

Menstrual cups are small, foldable and reusable devices made from silicone, rubber or plastic that collects blood when menstruating and is inserted into the vagina. Once the menstrual cup is inside, it opens up and forms a light seal against the vaginal wall. It sits lower than a tampon and can be used in any daily routine.

If you do choose to use a menstrual cup, it's vital to change it regularly and sterilise it between each use and always make sure you read the manufacturer's information leaflet carefully.

• Here's how I got on…

I got my menstrual cup few month ago. When I’m finally bought my menstrual cup I’m not going to lie, I stared in awe at it for a while and then started to play around with it. It scared me but my husband persuaded me to keep trying.Once I got the hang of taking it in and out,Especially over time, I have to admit that I can't really feel it when I'm on my period. I'm able to exercise and go about my daily routine without the worries of any leakage. Just remember to take it out and empty it!

• There are many brands changing the period game with the menstrual cup. With the likes of MoonCup, Saalt and OrganiCup, menstrual cups come in various shapes, sizes and colours to suit you. Size options include cups for women pre birth and post birth. For me, the best thing about the menstrual cup is that you can use it for up to 6-12 hours depending on my flow.

• Simple advice. Don’t give up easily. Try it at least for 2–3 cycles if you must, to get it right. Most people I know have gotten it right in the second or third attempt and definitely or definitely by the second cycle. And a few were even motivated to try it in third (in spite of facing difficulty in removal) simply because it is super comfortable (and feels good) once inside you.
