one of my jobscope was to lie

As dramatic as it sounds, it did happen.

This was back in 2014, fresh out of getting my diploma, and I was looking for a job to start my career life. I got into a job through a mutual connection in an industry I love and was always interested in.

Long story short, as a newbie in the working industry, I was thrown into the pool without any assistance nor guidance, and I had to literally find my way around the job, the company's culture, and style on my own. I somewhat knew what was at stake, and I'm pretty lucky that I am adaptable enough to "snake" my way around situations.

That brings me to my supervisor that I thought I admired. She was your typical office lady, oozing class, sophistication, knowledge, sass, and really pretty too—really admirable. But the longer I knew her, the more red flags I got to see, to the point that I found out about her affair with a married man. It was just purely coincidental; I didn't need to do any investigation or whatsoever; I just happened to see it very obviously shown in public. Not only that, I had to lie about her whereabouts all the time to our big boss, and that felt so wrong.

I tried to take on projects that's unrelated to her or have very little involvement with her. But I can't anymore. We had a huge fight, and colleagues took sides. Me, of course, being super inexperienced in that industry, was shunned and was given impossible tasks and was left alone to manage huge projects with no help. So I left, I lasted about 5 months in that company. But in that 5 months, I did so many roadshows, pasar malams, and events—blood, sweat, and tears and really late nights.

Was it worth it? No. I was only paid 1.4k for that—super underpaid, but definitely an experience I can't and won't forget.
