📍Cosmic Ashtray (aka The Volcano) is located in the wild and remote Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument is southern Utah

🥾 There are multiple ways to get there. The “shortest” hike is an 8.3 miles round trip, mainly flat except for the last part and it should take you between 4-5 hours. There is little to no shade and some river crossings along the way.

🚙 There is a way not to hike the whole 8.3 miles if you have a 4x4 and just hike the last part which will make the hike way easier. Instead of stopping at the parking lot you can continue and follow the trail until you get to a part of the road that becomes too sandy to continue. Make sure to do that only when it didn’t rain in the previous days or you might get stucked

This place is absolutely worth to visit and you should definitely consider visiting on your next Utah trip.
