Not investment advise. Just sharing my (dumb) investment journey so i can look back to it 5-10years later and laugh at myself

Top 5 purchases in US market + reasons for buying:

1) AMZN , Alphabet, MSFT

Price: bought after 2022 crash. Amzn at 90, MSFT at 240, Alphabet at 100.

Reason for buying: Business has good moat and profit. Also i watched Adam Khoo's videos and agree w his points. When i see stock crashes but no impact on financials i buy the stocks. Its like going on a discount shopping sale.

Profit: 5.5K USD. About 100% of what was initially invested. Will keep holding since these businesses rule the world and have every increasing profit.

2) BYD

Price: bought at the lows of 2024 Feb, when it was 46USD, one of the lowest price in the past 3-4 years.

Reason for buying: Profit was increasing the past 3 years by 8-10X - ish, but stock price was similar in price as its 2021 low of 41USD. PE ratio was less than 20 as well. Likely a cheap stock that i should buy la.

Profit: 64% of 2000USD invested. Plans for future: Will keep holding since BYD seems to be one of the top EV producers in the world with high profit margins (based on news i read somewhere. Rmb i said i was a dumb investor?)

3) SEA

Price: Bought when it was at its lowest.

Reason for buying: Didnt had any clue what i was doing. I bought SEA because "i believed in the company". Truth was i just use the shopee app and think it was wise to buy businesses of products that i use. Was it foolish? 100%. Was wondering why the prices fluctuate so much with 50% upsides and downsides, turns out loss making businesses has price movements based on illogical news. Luckily SEA became profitable (i didnt even knew then haha).

Profit: Somehow got a 160% return over 1-2 years. Conclusion: Hold this stock for fun till 2-3 years later and see where it goes as SEA could have better profit potential in the future. Reports say its gaming sector is actually profitable and carrying its Payments and Ecommerce segments that are giving SEA problems. But the CEO seems committed to see through his strategy. Who knows if he could make Shopee and payments profitable in the long run? We will see)

Lesson from buying SEA: i will only buy into profitable businesses moving forward
