How i made 27K & accumulated 100k by 31

31yo Sg investor. 4.5k monthly income

Portfolio profit: 27.5k (37%)

invested capital: 70.5k

current capital: 98k (including profit)

Monthly Accumulation:

- i put 1-2k every month (up to 50% of savings) into stocks

- i reduce unnecessary expenses such as cab rides, iphone upgrades are only done every 4-5years

Stock allocation:

- i buy blue chips with healthy metrics such as intrinsic value, increasing annual profit, positive balance sheets (i use google for intrinsic values cause i cant adjust it myself)

- i diversify across diff industries and stocks. up to 50 stocks. the largest stock doesnt take beyond 8% of my total portfolio

- i buy the dip. i dont buy the highs of raising stocks

- i follow finfluencers with good fundamental analysis such as adam khoo , tay chikeng or the fifth person. Then i apply my own metrics into the stocks and decide whether to buy

My Cannot-do rule:

Rules that i set out to manage the portfolio

- i cannot sell my shares until at-least 1-2y later

- i cannot buy loss making businesses

- i can accumulate shares but not sell them

- i will not buy b2b businesses (so no nvidia. i only own 0.1% of it in my portfolio just for fun)

- i will not buy businesses without economic moats

- i will not check prices daily. only once every week.

- i do not try to beat the market. instead i let compounding do its work (case in point MSFT increased 2000% in 15y from 2009 til today)
