Sharing our experience choosing our Kitchen Countertop and Laminates 😇

We’re at the end of Week 4 in our Home Reno journey and we’re finally kickstarting the process of selecting our kitchen countertop/laminates (we can’t wait for carpentry work to commence!)

Key Takeaways from countertop/laminate shopping 🔑

1. Going down to showrooms to see the entire slab/laminate rather than basing your decision off a small sample piece or your ID’s render.

I realised that it’s so important to actually view and touch the entire slab/laminate sheet irl so you can see the veining or grooves on the entire piece for yourself. It can look very different under light/ at different angles as well depending on whether you’re going with a glossy or matte finish. Personally, I know that I would have made a very different decision if it were simply based off the tiny sample pieces. (Scroll to compare pictures 2 & 3)

2. Compare, compare, compare!!!

While samples aren’t the most accurate^^, after we’ve sighted the entire slab or sheet and tentatively decided on what we like, we would typically still request for samples to take back to our WIP home (!!) for comparison against the existing floor tiles to see if the colours clash or harmonise well with each other.
