Must try affordable sushi place: SO SHIOK!💫

Are you a sushi lover like me? If you are, you are going to love KOH Grill & Sushi Bar! My bestie and I eat here all the time as we absolutely love love love the legendary shiok maki. Don’t be deceived by the fact that it’s situated right within the food court, the food is in fact extremely premium.

Now let’s get started! Typically I would order a salmon chirashi don, chawamushi and share the 1st Gen Shiok Maki with my friend.

Here are my must-trys! ❤️

SHIOK MAKI $18.80

- Comes in Gen 1 & Gen 2; Gen 1 contains eel 🐟, avocado 🥑 & seared salmon 🍣 while Gen 2 contains fried prawn 🦐, Seasoned seaweed 🍙 & seared salmon 🍣. The sauce is extremely rich, and is what makes this dish really special. 💫 Personally I prefer the taste of Gen 1’s better as I felt that the ingredients are more complementary with the sauce. Do note that it’s better to get this with your friends as it can get jelat!

Salmon Chirashi Rice Bowl $15

- Extremely generous portions and I love how their salmon slices are always so thick, fresh and chewy! The Salmon Chirashi Rice Bowl typically comes with soup, which tastes differently from normal miso soup. While I enjoy the soup, i find it too salty at times.

- I’ve also tried the Aburi Chirashi ($19) & Normal Chirashi Don ($26), both are equally good with thick sashimi slices! I usually get the Salmon Chirashi Rice Bowl as it is more budget friendly 😊

Pitan Tofu $5

- This is the Tofu with Century Egg Sauce. I’m not a fan of century egg. In fact, I’m a hater! But for some reason, the century egg sauce tastes extremely flavourful and complements the taste of the tofu. I absolutely love this!

Seafood soup $16

- Generous load of ingredients for me! The ingredients include prawn, salmon fish, mussels, tofu and vegetables. I really like the taste of the broth, it felt super homely and warm. You can also add in udon if you’d like! I usually buy this to share with my family.

I’ve also tried other dishes such as the Chawanmushi ($4.50) where they are generous with their ingredients (mushroom, crabstick, meat), the assorted premium sashimi (15 slices for $39), where the slices are extremely thick & juicy. Yakiudon ($12) was a one-time thing: as appetizing as it looked, I didn’t enjoy it as it was too salty for my liking.

Overall, KOH Grill & Sushi Bar has been my go-to sushi place for years due to its affordability 🥰 My no.1 must try for you is their signature Shiok Maki, go and try it out for yourself! 💥 Do take note that the queue insane during eating time.
