When it comes to Vietnamese cuisine, the first thing that comes to mind is pho. However, this place has changed my perception of Vietnamese food. They specialize in modern Vietnamese cuisine and don't serve traditional pho. Each dish is crafted with great care and attention to detail. The dining area is split into two levels, not very large, but it's tastefully cozy. It's perfect for gathering with friends or a romantic date.
1. Banh It Ram - Crispy Mochi Dumplings
These have a bit of a crispy rice cake taste, savory, with green bean paste filling. They are garnished with scallions and small chili peppers, and the dipping sauce is fish sauce-based. Their fish sauce is fragrant without a strong fishy taste. The crispy mochi shell and soft green bean filling, along with the chili peppers and fish sauce, create a delicious combination!
2. Banh Beo - Steamed Rice Cake with Minced Shrimp
This dish may look plain, and I had no expectations when it arrived, but it was a pleasant surprise. The base is steamed rice cake, topped with crispy shallot oil and dried shrimp. The rice cake is incredibly soft, and when paired with shallot oil and shrimp, it's very flavorful!
3. Pho Short Rib Grill Cheese
This is not your ordinary grilled cheese sandwich. The braised beef inside is flavorful, and the bread is crispy and toasted. The key is dipping it in pho broth, which slightly moistens the bread, enhancing the flavor and texture.
The average cost is $40-50 per person, and it's really worth it because the food is genuinely delicious. I highly recommend everyone to give it a try.
