no mum, i shouldn’t clean my desk for straight As

has your mum ever nagged you for having a messy room or desk? well, you can show her this post 😀 this is definitely not my excuse to not clean my desk… but i do believe there are certain perks to a messy desk!!

💭 ironically more organised??

when you create a mess, you somehow are able to find things within the mess really easily. on the other hand, everytime i clean my desk and rearrange stuff, i always end up forgetting where i put said stuff. ig the conclusion is simple -> don’t organise the mess, the mess organises for you! HAHAH perhaps my argument is heavily flawed, but especially during A levels season like i am in rn, i don’t have much time to clean my desk, let alone organise it, so i find the messy set up just right!

📚 study more

okay, this depends on person to person. i do know people who hate studying at their desk because it’s messy, and i totally understand!! however, i also see a lot of my subscribers comment on how messy my desk is due to all the stuff toys and deco i have. yet, imo, these personalised items gives some kind of character to my desk, like it’s really mine instead of some library, which makes me much more comfortable -> study better!! to me, it allows me to be less up-tight about studying — after all, perfectionism, in both acads and cleanliness, might not be for the best

🧠 higher IQ

based on a study done by the University of Minnesota, they found that messy people had higher IQs! the study goes on to state that geniuses leave their desks messy because they invest the time needed to clean and organise or work on the more important stuff.

so doesn’t it look like messy desks -> As? HAHHA i definitely want to clarify that this differs from person to person though. if you like keeping your desk neat, good for you!! not me though. so next time your mum nags, you know what to do. lmk in the comments what you think!!
