New York can get pretty expensive, but in a place with so much to do and so many things happening all the time, there are always options to have fun without breaking the bank. So I've listed 5 things that I love to do, that are under $10 and can guarantee you a great time.
1. Explore Roosevelt Island (take the Tram!)
This was one of the coolest things I did when I visited NYC for the first time. You can take the Tram to visit Roosevelt Island; it costs $2.90 one way, and when you're up there, the views are so pretty. The Island itself is small, so you can walk all the way down (or even take a city bike) to see the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park.
2. Take the Ferry to Staten Island
I've taken the ferry a few times, and it's an activity that you need to add to your bucket list, even if you aren't on a budget. You can get beautiful views of the Statue of Liberty, and it's free (yes, no $$$ involved 😉).
3. Have a Game Night at Cellar Dog
If you want a fun night out, add Cellar Dog to your list. They offer live jazz every day, and the cover is $5 on weekdays and $8 on weekends. You can play games like chess, shuffleboard, ping-pong, and pool starting at $2/hour.
1. Stroll in Central Park (and have a picnic!)
Central Park has so many beautiful places; you could spend a whole day in there and not see everything. One of my favorite things to do is to stop at a bakery, get some goodies, and sit in the park to enjoy the food and people-watch. Oh, and I recommend checking out theConservatory Garden ; it's a beautiful area and not super crowded.
2. Catch a Sunset, a Salsa Class, and Happy Hour Drinks at Time Out Market New York
This is my ultimate favorite place to watch the sunset in Brooklyn . You get views of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Skyline, and the water. They offer a happy hour where you can get beers for $5 and cocktails for $9. Additionally, on Thursdays, they offer a free salsa class on the rooftop; it's a lot of fun!
How do you have fun in the city without breaking the bank?
