NYC Guide | Exploring Chinatown

Visiting Chinatown in NYC sneaks up on you quickly. First, you’re strolling past the pasta and cannoli of Little Italy, when BOOM, you’ve turned a street corner and you’re suddenly in Hong Kong.

The ornate, hand-painted Mandarin signs of the shops in this neighborhood, along with the authentic smells and sounds of the streets, really transport you to China, which is a plus when visiting New York, because it’s like traveling to Asia without all the layovers. There are countless shops with authentic imported goods from China just waiting to be explored.

For me, the most delightful treat this area offers is boba milk tea, my favorite brand of which is “Tiger Sugar.” Swirling with stripes of brown sugar syrup and decadent tapioca pearls, this milky drink looks as good as it tastes and is definitely worth the stop if you can’t make it to its original location in Taipei.
