What to see on the Lower East Side

One of the coolest areas to explore when you’re traveling to New York is the Lower East Side! Not only is this a historic area of the city, but its teeming with activities to do, great places for nightlife, and alot of classic NYC spots!

Here are a few spots I recommend trying to see on your first visit:

Essex Market

This cool food hall is set in a historic public indoor market that dates back to 1940! This is a great place to take a break, have a meal, and do some window shopping!

Economy Candy

This nearly century old candy shop is a beloved staple of the LES! Be sure to see what candy they have ranging from old fashioned to today’s candies!

Sweet Pickle Books

Maybe the most unique bookstore ever! They barter used books for jars of homemade pickles! Oh, and you can shop for books here too!

Katz's Delicatessen

I’ll have what she’s having! This is not only the best place to get matzo ball soup and pastrami, but it’s an iconic filming location for the movie When Harry Met Sally!

Tenement Museum

This historic museum explores the lives of immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through several different tour offerings they have.
