Beauty Clinic Hardsell Tactics!

As someone who has been getting aesthetic treatments done for a long time i've realised that i am able to discern when beauty clinics are being straight up shady!!!

1️⃣ Deals that are too good to be true

Think we've all seen it on apps like Fave etc etc or promotions online and i ALWAYS see it for IPL hair removal and ones that i always see often have deals talking about $9.90 for 10 sessions for upper lip hair removal etc or IPL for $120 unlimited sessions etc

What usually happens is that if you're paying $9.90 for 10 sessions - they don't include in their promotional posters that this is probably only 2-3 shots (totally ineffective btw), or they'll ask you to upgrade to their "better" IPL hahaha.

For unlimited sessions for a cheap price - this is a tricky one! When they say unlimited it doesn't mean that you can come as and when you want to max out this good lobang as much as you can in 3 months LOL based on your hair growth cycle IPL is only effective once every 3-4 weeks, so essentially your unlimited deal is not really unlimited. And.... the hard sell begins when they start asking you to upgrade to better IPL versions

2️⃣ Facials that are TOO cheap

Most of these beauty clinics actually hate coming up with these types of promotions because they mostly want to draw in a large quantity of customers and hopefully manage to hard sell them into a package - and also for $20+ they're not going to offer you their full service (as advertised) because not worth it for them leh. So for $20+ you're essentially getting a basic cleanse, 1 machine operated treatment, and a sheet mask hahaha. They'll probably ask you to top up for extractions, better quality products etc during your service! OR they'll say "oh this price is the trial rate which is only 15 mins" even tho they NEVER mentioned this at all on their promotional posters!

I once had to endure a 60 min facial that i paid like $30, and the esthetician tried to hardsell me for 50 mins 🙂‍↔️ out of my 1 hour facial HAHAHAHA

3️⃣ Unclear promotion mechanics

I paid $38 for a fat freezing treatment once at a pretty popular aesthetic clinic tho i realised now on Google is quite known for hardselling.... $38 for 1-for-1 Cryolipolysis treatment.

IF YOU DONT ALREADY KNOW when it comes to fat freezing they charge by the sizes of the hand piece. So a smaller area (Chin, armpit fat, etc) will be cheaper and a large area like abdomen, thighs etc will be more expensive because the hand pieces are larger. Certain parts of the body require TWO hand pieces at once (like inner thighs, outer thighs, armpit fat, love handles etc) so your 1-for-1 will be used up at once lor. So if you go in thinking you're getting 2 sessions for the price of 1, NO!!!! It's gonna be 1 session only hehe

How they hardsell you here would be asking you to upgrade to better versions, a larger size hand piece that can "suck" up more fat etc

Back to the clinic that tried SUPER SUPER hard to earn more than $38 from me was that they advertised saying $38 1 for 1 for ANY area so i thought wah so good deal meh ok so i went to try! Turns out their hand piece was the size of a fking credit card and after a lot of back of forth they said Ok lor we do for your armpit LOL then by the end of the session the consultant was SO SO DULAN she just slammed the receipt on the table and left.

ONE MORE INCIDENT AT ANOTHER CLINIC - i was literally on the treatment bed and the hand piece was already placed on my stomach. Consultant comes in and says HEY!!! I don't think this will be good for you, how about you try this better one?? Proceeds to take off the hand piece i already had ON MY STOMACH and puts the "new and better" one. By then i already bobian i am in such a compromising position sis... So i said ok LOL 😕 and IT WAS EXTRA $150!!!!! ON TOP OF $98

💡 So how to reject????

Most people say "so hard to reject meh" when it comes to beauty clinics and hardselling but i am too familiar with the dreaded feeling of being confined in a small room with the consultant who looks at u like 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 and then they ask like 1000 questions about your income, why you can't afford now, and they come up with a lot of 2+2 deals, 10 sessions package give you free 10 sessions etc etc i saw some girl post about how they LOCKED her in the room until she complied even ask her to take a loan from her parents to buy the package. Now that im older i can reject without feeling paiseh but when i was younger wah i really wanna shit my pants when they start giving you the sales talk.

So now you know! Hopefully you can identify earlier and if you all dk how to reject my favourite line is

✨ "I'm just doing this to try before i go overseas for studies/work. then i'll buy package there." ✨
