does eggless & dairy-free cakes taste good? 🍰✨

I had a gathering with my boyfriend’s family, to celebrate his father’s birthday and I had the honor to choose and order a cake. 🎂 We have a relative with a vegan diet, and hence, cake shopping was a little tricky. 👌

We’ve had a few vegan cakes before, and they all tasted… not so great… 🥲 I remember the latest vegan cake we had, it was hard, crumbly, thick and just not a pleasant experience. I think many of us were scarred by that vegan cake.

I went online to search for a few bakeries and settled for The Clean Addicts because of the high google reviews (4.9 at the moment!!) Honestly I was a little skeptical because, how good can a vegan cake taste..?? I cannot imagine a good tasting cake without the “staple” ingredients like eggs and dairy. Their cakes are Gluten Free | Dairy Free | Eggless | Nut Free and they even have a diabetic-friendly option where they will substitute erythritol as their sugar replacement. 🧐 I went ahead and ordered one of their best sellers - Vegan Double Chocolate Mochi Cake (Vegan, Gluten Free Option, Refined Sugar Free, Nut Free). here 🍫

I was truly, pleasantly surprised by how the cake tastes. 😘 The middle of the cake was filled with creamy and soft mousse-like chocolate, and the sides were chewy - had the texture of a “kueh”/ rice cake. It was NOT too sweet - which is the best compliment a dessert can get, am i right HAHA 🤣The chocolatey sweetness of the core complimented so well with the “mochi” base, it was truly a lovely treat. Everyone was surprised with how the cake tasted, it was really good IMO. I would not have known that this is a vegan cake.😋

This cake definitely changed my perception of vegan cakes, and food in general! Who said cakes need eggs and dairy!! If you are looking to get a cake for someone with a dietary restriction, or just a cake with clean ingredients, definitely give this bakery a go!!
