my review of salons I've been to (HAIRCUT) 💇‍♀️

hello everyone!

I'm back with a review series of salons I've been to and how I would rate their haircut services!

(if you'll like a short and sweet review of these salons please look at the pictures I've included! :) )

1. QB House/EC House/Kcuts

Price range: 💲

overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5

- I've grouped these together as they are similar in terms of price and service. this is a no frills place if you want to get your hair cut during lunch hour or just for a trim. it is also convenient to find them as they are (literally) in any mall. however, sometimes they trim off MORE than the requested length. hence, I've learned to ask for a trim length that is less than your intended one (e.g: ask for 1cm cut instead of 3cm cut)

2. Snip Avenue

Price range: 💲

overall rating: ⭐⭐/5

- snip avenue is a relatively well-known place to get the salon experience of wash, cut and blow dry, but at a low cost. I used to frequent this salon but in recent years the hairdressers can be pushy and hard selling their products. this is to the point where sometimes they comb your hair or scrub your scalp roughly if you decline to buy their products 😥. I really hope this is just my own experience because other than that it is a nice place to get a haircut

3. Black Hair Salon

Price range: 💲💲💲

overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5/5

- this was my first considerably higher end salon that I visited. I appreciated the consultation and honesty of the stylists when I wanted a certain style and they advised me accordingly. the service was also very comfortable and welcoming. however, I got a shock when I made payment and saw that the price previously mentioned to me was different from the final bill (cos of gst it will differ by $5-$10). would have appreciated more transparency so do make sure you check with them (or in other salons) what the price is after gst and service charge!

4. HAF salon

Price range: 💲💲💲

overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

- I wanted a change in hairstyle for the first time in my life lmao so although I knew beforehand of the steep price, I saw many good reviews from this salon. it made me more certain that I would be in good hands. the reviews were right as I was very satisfied with my new haircut (medium length layers with curtain bangs). initially I was adviced by the stylist to cut shorter layers but I couldn't bear to cut off alot of hair; she listened to my preferences and gave me medium layers instead. I would come back if I wanted to try a new style or if they have a promotion in future!

5. Splendor Hair Salon

Price range: 💲💲💲

overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5/5

- lastly, but definitely not the least. although it is not as well known as the salons listed above, this is a hidden gem. I got to know of the place after reading a 2016 article (yes a very long time ago) on the best salons in Singapore. I was intrigued as to why this salon had not been mentioned recently, so I decided to pay a visit when it was time for a haircut. they did not disappoint at all! the stylists are so kind and ensured that I was comfortable at every step of consultation, the haircut itself, washing. the stylist even taught me how to style my hair myself without any heating tools which I appreciated alot. why I only gave it a 4.5 rating is because it's still a little above my budget for a haircut. but with that aside, I would come back to this place again when I'm due for a haircut in future :)

overall summary:

- so these are my reviews for haircuts at salons I've visited so far. everyone will have their own preferences, but one thing for sure is that it's important to read reviews from other people to determine whether the salon's stylists are accommodating and honest. this is so that you'll get a comfortable experience 😌
