💰A one way flight from Singapore to KL costs $60-$70, but I spent a total of $60 for 3D2N including all food, transport from SG to KL, and accoms! Here are some things I personally did and my review of them:
🛌 Where to Stay:
- WAKAKA HOSTEL (Honestly super budget, it's like bare minimum and decently clean) $7ish/night
- OA ThE FACTORY AT BUKIT BINTANG (located at an interesting place in the carpark, but I felt the facilities were better? maybe because it was less musty - more detailed reviews on my blogpost) $10ish/night
🍛 What to Eat/Drink:
Eat: Jalan Alor Food Street (very crowded, didn't see much I like but many say they love the street), Pudu Glutton Street Night Market, Honestly any random street market/hawker/coffee shop
🍷 Drink: @ Dissolved Solids, very much recommend this bar, gr8 vibes and gud cocktails
❓Things to Do/Activities:
💲Paid activities:
- Indoor Rock climbing (Camp5, Madmonkeyz, got a lot in KL jahjajh)
🧗♂️Real Rock Climbing near Batu Caves (Gua Damai Extreme Park), haven't done it yet but have been wanting to
- FlowRider® 1 Utama I recommend it! it was fun & quite affordable, if I lived in KL I could definitely see myself going for regular sessions
- Windlab, "indoor skydiving", don't really recommend it because it's quite short and expensive, but fun for a bit I guess
- Visit Batu Caves (tbh very touristy vibes and sometimes crowded af)
🤑 Free activities:
- Roam streets, pet cats
- See some art murals at Petaling Street Street Art, visit art exhibitions/galleries
- Visit cool indie shops and the hip bookstore BookXcess RexKL
📸 Do a photowalk & dump your film with Darkroom 8 studio OR Saujana Film Lab in KL
🥾Hiking trails near/within KL (recommended to hike Bukit Guling Ayam, a very short 30min hike & catch the sunset)
🛍 Go window shop or actual shop at the malls of KL
Day 1️⃣
🚌 Morning around 7-8 am: Cross border & take Public Bus T13 from JB Sentral to Larkin Sentral (1.60RM iirc)
🚌 Take Intercity bus from Larkin Sentral > TBS in KL (~$9 one-way, about 3-5h?)
- Check in accoms (and Lunch)
❗️Honestly on this day you'd probably be pretty shag from travelling like 3-5 hours, so maybe you can choose the chiller activities
Day 2️⃣
Whole day to use as you wish (see: activities)
Day 3️⃣
Breakfast, Last activity
🚌 Late morning to early afternoon: Return to Singapore the reverse way as Day 1
Thoughts & Conclusions 💭
💸I can barely believe I spent so little myself lol (like literally ONE Meal in SG can cost $20 alr) but full disclosure: almost all the paid activities I did in KL were free because I was on Classpass's one month free trial LOL (I'll be reviewing them in a separate post one day..,.). In fact my motivation for this trip was to use up my classplass credits before the trial ended (yes I am that auntie)
I also ate reaaallly cheap, like almost all my meals were in local hawker/streetside stalls (tho I did "splurge" on a chimichanga in a mexican restaurant one afternoon :X)
💰 But if you're doing paid activities and splurging a bit more on food, I'd say <$100 is still very doable for 3d2n from SG to KL! If you're willing to deal with the "#backpacker life" ah ahahaha
This was actually also #myfirst entirely #solotravel but idk if you can call it that since it's "Just KL" 🤪 It was interesting though, and I still learnt quite a bit about solo travelling through the short trip tho that's another story for another time I suppose
