hie! 👋🏻 i have a small humble sticker business @cmcherrymayo on IG that i’ve been working on as a passion project for about 2-3 years now and im really glad to be able to share more about it on this platform 🎀
cherrymayo features two main characters - chowder the guinea pig and daffy the hippo 🤭 i sell a range of cute stationery products from sticker sheets to memo pads to prints and enamel pins and also lifestyle products like airpod cases and laptop sleeves! 💕since young, i wanted to start my own sticker business but had no idea how and where to begin. i then started my journey when i was in year 1 of uni because i thought to myself that it will be kind of my last schooling opportunity before i commit to a full time job and slave my way onwards ☠️ i took the leap of faith, started brainstorming, planning and now im here! ★彡
to those who are contemplating whether or not to start a small business of your own, do it (coming from experience)! trust the process and one day you’ll look back and realise how far you’ve come :”) it will all be worth it, be it a success or failure 🫶🏻
✏️ here are some tips on starting a small business to help you out:
1. narrow down your company’s theme
- think: what do you want to sell that you’re passionate about? does it have a target audience?
- what are you selling that stands out from other businesses?
2. company’s character/ mascot
- sticker business specific ^
- is your character too mundane and over saturated in the community?
- is there a story behind your chosen character?
3. company’s name
- come up with something that relates to what you do/ easy to remember/ is catchy
- take your time with this because its something that sticks with you throughout
4. variety of products
- if you’re just starting out, its good to just have a few different items in your store. you can slowly build on the variety as you go
- think: what products are trendy? will people need and use them? will they actually spend money on it?
5. source out materials (domestically/ internationally)
- know what you’ll require to make your product
- do your research and filter out good suppliers
- find out the cost price of your items
i hope these tips help - even a bit! 🎀🧸 thank you for listening to my story, do check out @cmcherrymayo on IG for see what chowder and daffy are up to hehe ~
