I saw a lot of videos introducing Um Yong Baek, so I wanted to check in immediately. It's a household name in Korea, specializing in a more niche food: Korean Pork Soup Rice. Every Friday at 5pm, slots for that week will be open for reservations. It took us two weeks to get a spot as it was fully booked within 6 minutes each time. *Be aware that there is only a limit of 80 bowls of Pao Rice per day, so it sells out quickly!

As soon as I sat down, the lady boss introduced the menu for the afternoon, and finally I ordered:

Busan-style Pork and Rice Soup ($21) Featuring a clear soup, it tastes like Singapore's pork chop soup. There is an abundance of ingredients hidden inside, and you get plenty of pig collars, tender pig faces, and pork belly, each with a different texture. With the three-word description of the side dishes they gave, it is excellent!

Milyang-style Pork and Rice Soup ($21) If you like Japanese pork bones, you'll love this flavor starring a thick soup made with pork bones. This version has pork legs, cheeks, jaws, and stomach, and is garnished with plenty of chopped chives to reduce the richness of the soup. But it's too bland for us, adding a little salt to get the aroma of pork~ It's a bit challenging for people who don't like ginger!

Boiled Pork Belly with Skin ($45) The hostess highly recommended this dish to us. This plate of meat required a 15 minute wait, but it was worth it! Paired with the seasonings - chives, garlic, tofu and salted fish sauce - every bite is delicious without being too oily.

Although the price is a bit expensive, the portion is so big that we couldn't finish it and had to take it away. Delicious waiters are very friendly, and I look forward to experiencing it for dinner next time. Um Yong Baek is conveniently located in the Central Business District. It is just a two-minute walk from Telok Ayer MRT station, making it easy to find restaurants.
