Hi lemon8! 🍋

I’m here to share my layout planning and I legit considered these layout before!

But guess what I went with in the end??

Hope it will be useful to you guys if you have a similar floor plan as mine with the shelter beside the main door!

❗️I’m sure everyone will have the basic layout like in Plan A.. a covered bomb shelter for shoes storage and a L-shaped wardrobe in the master bedroom. The normal kitchen with an island (curved or straight) and a table for 6.

seems standard. But one plan does not fit all..

I want 2️⃣ kids. (I have a son now and not sure about my next one, will it be another boy or girl?) 👦🙋‍♀️

If it’s a girl, I have to give them separate rooms when they grow up. Then I want to maintain all my bedrooms if possible. But what about our work desks / pc desks / office setup gonna be??? This got me thinking.. 🤔

‼️ What about Plan B??

I considered hacking the third bedroom which is commonly done as well but built it up again as a smaller bedroom. It can be turned into an office.. or if I push my dining table and chairs more towards the kitchen, I can put my office outside the wall of the third bedroom and behind my sofa while the bedroom can still be used by my future child if needed. My husband asked : “what if one child complains that his or her room is so small and squeeze and thinks it’s unfair?” 🤣🤣 I got no answer to that.

‼️❗️What about Plan C?

I got this inspiration from my friend who has a 3-Gen HDB. He hacked the 3rd bedroom and exchanged with his living room so that he sort of combined the kitchen, dining and living space into a long vertical space to make it look bigger. He doesn’t have the problem that I have though, his original living room is similar size to the 3rd bedroom because a 3-Gen flat has another master bedroom 2 on the right side..

My problem is my living room is much bigger than the 3rd bedroom so if I exchanged them, my husband asks again: “What if our son complains that our daughter got a bigger room?” 🤣🤣🤣

I sort of settled our office to be in our master bedroom and changed the L-shaped wardrobe to a wall flushed wardrobe and our bed frame against the windows so we have extra space for office at the foot of the bed and near the toilet door. 🚪

Plan C is definitely super great for hosting guests and can fit 10 or more guests easily in one single space!

I got one big problem. I signed for centralised cooling system aircon in the Tengah estate, the trunking all done up and I cannot hack walls easily unless I cancel it with penalty and 💰 find traditional aircon system outside again.. wow a regret incoming? So many complaints about it already too.. I can only pray mine doesn’t leak. 💦

‼️‼️ Here comes Plan D!!

My office is settled in the master bedroom. I want to put more things in the tiny living room.. why not build a partition that segregates my foyer and the living?? I got space for my shoe cabinet and also my living room have more walls to fit a longer sofa against the windows and a long tv cabinet against the partition wall. Phew… cozy space for hosting?

Another pro is that because I have an open kitchen, my table can be a long rectangular one that fits up to 8 or 9 if I get a bench. I also think I can just lock my son in the living room with a child lock gate. 🔒 Hahaha! Traditionally people lock off the kitchen but since my kitchen is not the galley style or a closed one, I can only lock him in his own bedroom or the living room.

What do you guys think???

I knew what I wanted so I didn’t go for an ID. Read here to know why..

No ID? No problems!
