Hidden Zi Char in the West! 😍

Hai Zhong Bao, located at the unassuming industrial area in Woodlands, is my family's go-to zichar stall. The chefs were mostly Malaysians whom whips up delicious and homely dishes that really suit our palatte. What's more, the place is air-conditioned and food were reasonably priced without service charge!

Your usual Pork Rib King but even better because they used fillets instead of pork ribs and it's no less tender than it's counterpart. In fact, it's alot easier to eat without the bones and tendon. Each piece was coated with the slightly sticky, sweet and savoury sauce with a touch of tanginess. My fam rated this the best among the other dishes 💯

Crispy and packed with lots of meat, chestnut and prawns. Savoury and juicy with a nice crunch from the chestnut without being greasy.

• 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐝 𝐰 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐩 ($𝟓)

Was expecting a single portion but it came in a bowl that can fit 3. The soup is the same as the ones served in their fishhead steamboat - light and refreshing with bittergourd and fish slices though I believe the fish slices are the frozen ones.

• 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐩𝐨𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐝 ($𝟏𝟐)

Comes with beancurd, cauliflower, chinese cabbage, carrot, mushroom, capsicum and roasted pork. Quite a variety of ingredients and not too heavy with the seasoning. After being cooked together with the sauce, the roasted pork wasn't crispy anymore.

💬 TLDR: Great zi char at affordable prices given the portion and quality. I liked that we get to enjoy the food in air-conditioned environment too! They have outlet in AMK as well if you wish to try.
