👗 An Honest Review of Local Bridal Gown Boutiques

Here’s my virgin post on Lemon8 after being a casual user for months as I prep for my wedding in 188 days 💍👰🏻‍♀️ (yes… I can’t believe time flew past so quickly and we are left about 6 months!)

I started wedding gown hunting back in April and was honestly pretty lost on where and how to start initially. I ended up visiting both boutiques that house local designs and international designers.

I visited a total of 3 local boutiques and here’s my honest review of my experience. The price points of all 3 boutiques were similar - about S$1,000 per gown.

(1) Rico-A-Mona

👗 No. of Dresses Tried: 6

💬 Thoughts:

• Upon entering, the staff sat me down first at the reception to run through their packages. Basic questions were asked, like when/where is the wedding.

• Had 4 floors of gowns including an area on the top floor for men’s suits that your partner could also rent. Quite a wide variety of silhouettes, fabrics and colours too.

• I was asked to browse floor by floor and select which gowns I’d like to try. It was the first location I went to and to be honest, I think I was just looking to see what’s my best silhouette, neckline etc.

• At the end of trying about 6 dresses, I didn’t find anything that I particularly liked except for a straight neck strapless satin A-line gown (bottom right in photo) that comes with pockets. But even so, I felt that the satin material felt pretty low quality, sort of a polyester material.

• Service was mediocre, she didn’t really help me into the gown and I thought that was normal till I went for other gown fittings! She didn’t seem that interested to help me find THE dress as well. Not much questions asked to understand my needs.

(2) Wedding Crafters

👗 No. of Dresses Tried: 5

💬 Thoughts:

• I was pretty excited to visit as I saw and heard lots of great reviews but ngl, I was pretty surprised to know that there’s only that small space of gowns. There wasn’t a great variety at all.

• I was also asked to browse the racks and see which gowns I’d like to try. It was pretty tough for me to find many that I liked because the variety was extremely limited in my opinion. Mostly mermaid, lace etc.

• That said, the service was probably one of the best. The staff was extremely kind and helpful and asked questions about what I like etc and how I envisioned my dream dress. She really tried her best to find me some dresses to try.

• At the end of the try-on, they offered a sign on package which you can decide by the end of the day. They also had multiple collaborations with different vendors.

(3) Bridefully Yours

💬 Thoughts:

• I was meant to visit BY first but I ended up visiting them quite late (and almost did not) as there was some error on their website and my initial appointment couldn’t be honoured. Thankfully, I decided to make another appointment.

• I was greeted with a floor full of gowns arranged in a way that’s easy to browse as well. Similarly, I was asked to browse the racks and see which gown I’d like to try.

• I was able to try a variety of gowns here - from ball gowns to simple A-line gowns to even a fitted style. They also had cheongsams and a good variety of coloured gowns.

• Eleanor attended to me and she was very friendly and approachable. It was easy to talk to her and she made me feel comfortable very quickly. She also gave subtle recommendations and helped me make certain decisions as I tried on the dresses.

• Needless to say, I managed to find something I liked here! I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and design of the gowns even though it’s locally designed.
