pancakes and friends is not what I expected.. 😶

being the rosti lover I am, I had to try out pancakes and friends, after hearing about its affordable rosti and pancakes.

I was really shocked when I reached the store in Far East Plaza. After getting seated, I was struggling to look for the cashier/counter to place my order, but there wasn’t one. I was also appalled to find that apart from the waffle station, the rest of the kitchen looked makeshift. The entire space was pretty crammed and the staff were preparing food on top of the fridges/freezers 🥲 when I approached one of them to place my order, she rudely told me to wait. Both of them seemed overwhelmed by the order volume and certainly didn’t possess the friendliest service attitude. They also forgot about our pancake order and we had to remind them about it.

service aside, the food was pretty decent for their price tags. despite evidently being made with more affordable ingredients, the rosti was cooked pretty well, albeit nothing outstanding. the pancake was more impressive to me as it was eggy and dense yet fluffy and had a jiggly texture to it. the chocolate sauce and caramelised bananas complemented the pancakes well. 🥞

overall, for the price tag, I do think the food is pretty worth it. just manage your expectations and don’t expect cafe-level standards here, give and take la hor 😅
