DIY hair removal gone wrong 😑

I have been wanting to try IPLs for hair removal on my hairy hands and legs to avoid lesser shaving and less damage to the skin, and did not want to go to the professional ones cos of the long waiting time per session, basically I wanted to see quick results, but it backfired me instead 😭

So if you’re looking at getting lasik hair removal, I would suggest to go for those who do it professionally, or if you have no time and want to get DIY hair removal IPL machines, pls don’t go for brandless ones like me. I got this on shopee for about $50+. This is my biggest mistake cos I was a cheapo and thought it all works the same!! 😤

These are some big nonos as to why you shouldn’t do IPL on your own / buy a cheap machine!!

❌ Spent close to $2k to see multiple doctors

❌ Long recovery (2 years)

❌ Suffered from scars

❌ Itchiness on whole body

I suffered from very very bad itching, even on areas where I did not do my IPL (back, neck, stomach etc

It’s so bad it disrupted my sleep and I would wake in the middle of the night because of the itching.

First few IPL sessions were ok and I indeed saw great results, however after I reached the 9th or 10th session, that’s when my body started itching. It first started itching on areas that I IPL-ed which are my hands and legs.

💸 CONCLUSION 💸

An expensive lesson learnt. Totally not worth it and not worth trying!!!! If you’re thinking of getting a home IPL machine, think twice!! Not saying this doesn’t work for everyone cos this worked well for my friend. Maybe I just have sensitive skin but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!!!
