puff stitch flower temperature blanket 2024

icymi: I swore I wasn't going to attempt a temperature blanket this year, but I saw someone making a puff stitch flower version and it caught my attention 🫡 so I ordered yarn (after obsessing over it for a few days), came up with a plan, and took off.

this is my progress up to January 21st.

the center of the flowers represents each day's average low temp, while the petals represent the high temp. you can see we've had an unusually mild winter here in New York so far! I'm loving how the colors are working out.

I do feel anxious about getting all the ends woven in securely. the best option seems to be weaving them to each flower's center and then winding them around and around inside the tight single crochets, but if this unravels I will cry because it's just so much meticulous work. I usually avoid projects like this and make wearables 😅

the good news is, even though it's a lot of doing the same thing over and over, the near-constant color changes and unpredictability of the pattern are holding my attention! I should be caught up in no time at all.
