Is TSA Pre-Check really worth the hype?

To sum it up simply: YES!

Of course, if you only fly once a year, it might not be worth it. If you’re a more frequent flyer who has been on the fence…go for it! And here’s why:

The program currently costs around $78 dollars to enroll. This gets you five years of access to the program. Yes, it’s annoying to have to renew, but they make it really easy! The amount of time that you will save at the airport for this $78 dollars is well worth it.

I’ve had pre-check since 2019 and have only had to wait more than 10 minutes ONCE (at the Seattle airport - don’t get me started on them). At smaller airports, they even let pre-check jump the line so you don’t have to wait at all. Plus, you never have to take anything out of your bag. I’m always traveling with liquids, tablets, etc. and having to dig those out and repack every time I go through security is a drag.

I’d say if you fly more than once or twice a year, the time savings and general convenience is certainly worth $78 for five years!
