If you keep up with trends, then you are definitely no stranger to Blokecore! The Blokecore trend actually stems from the Britpop subculture in the mid 1990s, and mirrors how the middle class people in the UK dressed back then.

First things first, before I give you tips on how to achieve this aesthetic, I want to define what Blokecore is to me. To me, Blokecore is more than just throwing on a jersey and calling it an outfit. It is about styling and incorporating jerseys and sportswear into everyday looks that can be worn both casually and dressed up. (similar to how the working class British people would dress back in the 90s)

Now let’s get into some styling tips to achieve the Blokecore aesthetic!

⚽️Finding your preferred fit of jersey

There are typically two types of fits for jerseys - oversized and slim fitting. I like both looks but they can give off different vibes and looks. For me, I prefer baggy and oversized jerseys for a more casual and laid back vibe, and slimmer jerseys for a dressed up and clean vibe.

⚽️Choosing the bottoms

For me, since jerseys are typically very colourful and have interesting patterns, I tend to keep the bottoms simple. Pairing with denim jeans, jorts, and neutral coloured dress pants and cargos seem to be the best recipe.

⚽️Get creative with it

Last and most important tip, just get creative with this style and push yourself outside of your comfort zone. For me, this style has allowed me to try styling more colour and patterns. Mixing different aesthetics such as pairing jerseys with cowboy boots or playing around with silhouettes can really make this style interesting.

So go ahead and get yourself a football jersey and try this style for yourself!

*For those who are wondering where to get jerseys to start, I’ll leave some stores:

- Weston Corp (one stop shop for football gear, many outlets in SG but I like the one at Queensway Shopping Centre)

- Depop (for vintage and secondhand jerseys)

- Adidas (might be a little biased from me, but imo they make the best jerseys)
