These Oktoberfest inspired pretzels are perfect for game days and parties! Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce (I like beer cheese sauce) and enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
馃エ 3/4 cup warm milk
馃エ 1/2 tbsp sugar
馃エ 1 tbsp active dry yeast
馃エ 3.5 cups flour
馃エ 1.5 tsp salt
馃エ 1/2 cup lukewarm water
馃エ 2 tbsp melted butter
馃エ 8 cups water
馃エ 1/3 cup baking soda
馃エ coarse salt for sprinkling
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Heat the milk until slightly warm. Stir in the sugar and sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let sit 10 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix together the flour and salt and add the foamy yeast mixture, water and butter. Knead until smooth and elastic.
3. Shape the dough into a ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Cover and set aside until it doubles in size (45-60 minutes).
4. Divide the dough into 10 pieces. Roll out each into a 20 inch long rope and then form into a pretzel.
5. Bring the water and baking soda to a boil.
6. Place each pretzel in boiling water for 30 seconds and then place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
7. Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse salt and then bake for 14-16 minutes at 400F.
