Shao Kao is barbecue in Chinese. It typically consists of heavily spiced, barbecued foods on skewers, and is available in almost all of the cities in China.

It is a typical late night street food and usually paired with beer.

This is dish originated from Xinjiang, a Chinese autonomous region with predominant Muslim such as Turkic Uyghur and other minorities.

Shao Kao is my number one fave skewered meat ever~ Been craving for a while and decided to try this instant seasoning (3rd slide) as it was highly recommended by many, BUT it didn't really taste like how I hoped it to be. Not too bad of course, but not the best. I did enjoy them although cravings weren't satisfied still. 🤭

I used beef, chicken, squid, long beans, and pork. Original version do not use pork but I wondered if they'll go well together with such seasoning but nope 😆 they just don't belong together. This instant seasoning goes well with chicken and beef~ perhaps lamb too but I cant eat lamb so I didn't try them with it.

Instructions:

Cut the cleaned meat into desirable sizes then marinade overnight with the seasoning (mix the the dry seasoning with the oil, -- both comes with the package). You can grill, roast, barbecue, or even fry them on stove.
