how to survive a road trip with a baby!

My family and I went on two 14+ hour road trips this month with our 10 month old, and these are a few tricks that helped immensely.

1. Pack lots of toys that can be switched out frequently. Try to avoid big bulky ones (like the one in the photo) because they can become projectiles in an accident.

2. Books with lots of pictures! My son loved looking at the pictures and I would tell him the name of whatever was on the page.

3. Little, easily dissolving snacks. Make sure you’re closely supervising snacks because they can easily become choking hazards in the moving vehicle. I also nursed my son a lot while we were driving by leaning over the seat.

4. Point out objects outside the car, especially big trucks that go by!

5. Screen time if needed, but we tried to limit it to times when he was really upset and I couldn’t nurse him, or after dark when there wasn’t anything else to distract him.
