To make a vegan teriyaki sauce, you can use the following ingredients:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (make sure it's labeled as vegan)
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar or maple syrup
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (to thicken)
Instructions:
1. In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, brown sugar (or maple syrup), minced garlic, and grated ginger.
2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce is simmering.
3. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
4. Slowly pour the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce while stirring continuously.
5. Continue to simmer the sauce for another 2-3 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency.
6. Remove the sauce from the heat and let it cool before using it in your favorite dishes.
Add sauce to tofu and your favorite veggies!
