Alright, I know I’m going to ruffle some feathers here, but I have a pretty controversial stance on botox (and injectables in general). This is in no way to judge anyone who does get botox. To each their own! This is simply an educational post from a holistic wellness expert who wants everyone to have the information necessary to make an educated decision for their body.
Botox has been linked to several negative side effects over long term use. Some of those side effects include:
-Muscle weakness
-Neuromuscular and neurological disorders
-Disruption of the connection between the face and amygdala (this can cause decreased empathy)
-Brain fog, headaches, and fatigue
While botox has been around for a while, widespread and common use are fairly new, so like all new medical advancements, we are essentially the guinea pig generation. We don’t know all of the long term effects yet, as studies are just not beginning to come out outlining some unfavorable health outcomes that may occur.
With that said, if you choose to get botox, good for you! I want you to be able to make that choice with all the information at hand so your decision can be informed.
