Waited 1h for Casa Vostra, was it worth it? 🤔

Casa Vostra , a new Italian restaurant at Raffles City, has taken social media by storm. 🍕

Headed by Chef Antonio, who is also behind the popular La Bottega Enoteca , I was sooooo excited to try this place out because I love Italian food, and have also dined at La Bottega Enoteca (which I thoroughly enjoyed and vowed to go back)!

I’ve seen so many reviews (both good and bad), but a common thing that I’ve noticed nonetheless is that there is always a snaking queue outside the restaurant every time I visit Raffles City! 🤯

I visited on a weekday for lunch, and we queued for ONE HOUR after reaching at 11.45 am… 🫠 It was such a long wait just for the first batch of customers to finish!

This is what we ordered:

🍄 Tarfuto E Funghi ($28)

This truffle and mushroom pizza was the best dish to me out of what we ordered! If you are a fan of thin and fluffy pizza crust - you should definitely try their pizzas! The truffle taste was pronounced and paired really well with the variety of mushrooms and the white cream base. Definitely a treat for any truffle lover!

🍕 Proscuitto E Rucola ($23)

While the first pizza was delicious, this one was a let down… This pizza didn’t feel like it was well seasoned - there wasn’t enough tomato sauce on the base and it just felt flat overall. I’ve definitely had better renditions at other Italian places…

🍝 Crab Tagliatelle ($26)

We had high hopes when we saw buzz words like crab, garlic and butter, but ended up being rather underwhelmed. While the handmade pasta had a nice bite to it and they were rather generous with the crab chunks, the pasta didn’t really have much flavour and could have used more sauce.

🧀 Carbonara Rigatoni ($18)

I’m personally a fan of softer pasta, and this rigatoni was a bit too hard for me. Putting that personal preference aside, this carbonara didn’t do it for me - it was way too salty and the sauce didn’t coat the pasta well enough.

🥫Frittatina Lasagne ($8)

I didn’t take a picture of this but we were SHOCKED cuz this dish was so TINY!!! We ordered this because the prospect of fried lasagne sounded really interesting, and while the crunch at the top gave nice texture I felt that this rendition of lasagne was dry and lacked the amount of tomato sauce needed for it to be moreish. At least the cheese pull looked pretty good I guess.

🤔 THE VERDICT 🤔

We had high expectations and were honestly quite disappointed with our experience, given how hyped up we were and how long we had to wait to get in.

I personally feel that this place is unfortunately not worth the one hour wait. I would only recommend the truffle pizza but please only go when the craze dies down… 😖
