Celebrate my 25th birthday with me!

I’ve always hated birthdays because no one seemed to care about my birthday.

It’s also a tough reminder that our clock is ticking, at least mine. Ticking to remind me of growing old, losing people, losing grip on control, and as a woman, we are often valued by our looks and age.

But I’m now trying to change that. My best friend and childhood friend who battled cancer posted about her newfound view on birthdays.

That it is not something to be worried and ashamed of, that it is something to be celebrated. And growing old is a privilege that sadly not everyone gets. And I truly wished she didn’t have to go through that to learn that. I love her very much.

And for that, I am grateful to be celebrating another year around the sun. To be surrounded by my loved ones. My circle keeps getting smaller, yet i feel more content with the people I have and that’s all that matters.
