Too many mooncake brands? Here’s my favourite!

It’s finally the mooncake season once again! With many different brands and types of mooncakes available, i’m sure it will leave many wondering “which one should i buy?” fret not, because today i’m going to share 4 of different type of mooncakes from different brands (fun fact: i get at least 1 box every year without fail, sometimes 2 boxes too 🤭 HAHAH)

1️⃣ East Ocean Teochew Restaurant (东海潮州酒家)

I always get their 8pcs mini snow skin lotus paste mooncakes every year without fail! When people asked me why them and not other brands with fancier snowskin mooncake flavours, i will always tell them that i prefer the classic traditional mooncakes with pure lotus paste!

2️⃣ The Peninsula Boutique (半岛)

As for baked mooncakes, i loved the mini ones from peninsula! Personally, i’m not a huge fan of having salted egg in my mooncakes but the ones from peninsula changed my view! The salted egg which was moist pairs really well with the lotus paste which comes in 2 different flavours - the mild one and the rich one. Look at that “liquid” when i cut them 😍

3️⃣ Carlton Hotel - Wah Lok Cantonese Restaurant

They are definitely famous for their mini walnut moontarts! Not your usual style of mooncakes, because this comes with whole pieces of walnut. Am pretty sure they did some pre-baking of the walnut because they are so crispy which enhanced the texture of the mooncake.

4️⃣ Garden Pastry & Cake

Wah this yam mooncake is really 💯 was introduced by my relatives last year and i was really amazed and stunned by the taste and flavours. not gonna lie, i didn’t expected crispy skin yam mooncakes to taste so good. the yam paste was smooth and the skin was really crispy (if you wanna enhance the crispness, you can reheat them as well)

All in all, these 4 types of mooncakes and brands are really “my must buys” every year without fail. If you are still thinking which mooncake brand to buy for mid autumn festival this year, i hope this post gave you some inspiration and enjoy mooncake shopping woohoo!! 😋😛
