Heading to Kyoto? Check this out! 🇯🇵🍵

Here's a Uji Day Trip Itinerary which I used when I went to Japan most recently!! 😊 I actually came across Uji when I was browsing through Lemon8, and I decided to give it a shot. I never knew it was the origin of matcha!! 🍵

TDLR, I would recommend anyone to take a day trip to Uji if you're based in Kyoto, and if you have time to spare!! Because it wasn't my first time in Kyoto, I wanted to explore new places (and not that mainstream like Nara), so Uji fit the puzzle. :-) Overall experience, 7/10 😋

How to get there 📍: I took the train (Nara line) to Uji from Kyoto Station - was about 240¥ for the 30 mins journey. Just note that Uji has 2 stations - train station & shinkansen station (so pick whichever is more convenient for you)

Recommended Itinerary 💭:

1️⃣ Head to Uji and arrive around 11.30am. Go for brunch and be sure to try Matcha Soba/Udon/Gyoza. Being the origin of Matcha, you definitely won't be short of choices. It was truly super delicious and one of the best meals i had!! 💚

2️⃣ After Brunch, take a stroll towards Byodo-in Temple ⛩️)which is the temple on the 10¥ coin!!!). Entrance Fees are 600¥, not too expensive! You can spend a good 1-1.5 hour to explore the exhibition! Only good & peaceful vibes 🍃

3️⃣ After exploring Byodo-in, refuel your tummy @ the famous Matcha dessert place - Nakamura Tokichi!! 🍵 I went to the Bydo-in Temple branch and it had such spectacular views vs the other main branch near the station. Honestly the vibes were so good but the dessert wasn't that cheap. (but still tasty and def strong matcha taste)

But would still highly recommend everyone to give that dessert place a visit, literally 50% of customers there were singaporean 😆

4️⃣ Once you've had a good pitstop, take the time to explore the streets of Uji and shop for Matcha snacks!! I really loved how Uji wasn't filled with tourists, so I could really take my time to soak in the atmosphere and appreciate the vibes ~

By this time, it should be around 5pm and it's perfect for you to head back to Kyoto for dinner!! A perfect short day trip ✅
