Underrated Road Trip from NYC: Litchfield, CT

Litchfield, Connecticut, and the surrounding area is an underrated fall road trip destination from NYC.

In just about 2 hours by car, you can shop at family owned farm stands and stores, sip apple cider at local cider mills, visit independent coffee shops and go apple picking.

Hogan's Cider Mill

We drove to Hogan’s Cider Mil in nearby Burlington, CT. For $10, you can order the Delightful Donut, which is apple cider topped with a donut, whipped cream and sprinkles. For $13, they’ll make it with hard cider.

It’s longtime family owned and run business. And if you chat with the family, they may even let you feed their goats!

☕️ Go for coffee and the best bagel and cream cheese of your life at Arethusa Farm’s coffee shop.

🍎 Go apple picking at Averill Farm.

Averill Farm

This is another cute farm in the area where you can pick your own apples. A half peck (medium bag) is $12. It was so fun to pick our own.

You can also buy apple cider, cider syrup and more at their farm store.
