how to plan a simple guo da li 🧧㊗️💯

Guo Da Li (过大礼) is the Chinese betrothal ceremony where the bride’s and groom’s family officially and formally meet. It typically happens one month before the wedding. For my partner and I, we took the opportunity to bring our extended families together.

Traditionally, the groom’s family will prepare a set of items for the bride and the bride’s family will return another set of items. As we aren’t superstitious, our families just saw this as a chance to gift us items that were necessary for us to start a family, or food items that we can enjoy together.

This is our list of items we exchanged for GDL. If you and your partner are looking to have a simple GDL, I hope this list will help you start planning!
