💔 Don’t: plan a long or 2 part date before meeting for the first time in person

Most of the people I met when I was on apps were from out of town. I had pretty good back and forth banter over text with one of the guys I had matched with and he had just moved to Seattle so we planned a two part date to get food then go to the observatory tower afterwards for my favorite view of the city. However, upon meeting each other in person, we didn’t have the same easy conversation and connection that we did over text, but I ended up sticking it out through the entire date even though I knew right away I was no longer interested.

💚 Do: choose a casual date that has room to turn into more if you want to keep spending time together

After I learned firsthand that 2 part first dates were a bad idea, I stuck to more casual first dates like getting a drink or eating somewhere that I knew I would enjoy the food even if I didn’t enjoy my date. These dates can be as little as an hour if you’re immediately not feeling it, or have room to keep hanging out if it feels natural to.
