Because I grew up in the south, I’ve known how to make biscuits & gravy for as long as I can remember. I don’t use a recipe so I eye a lot of it; I’ll get as close to accurate as I can, but you have to add milk or flour as needed. Flour to thicken & milk to loosen the gravy.
I love to serve with tomato slices, but you can add an egg, bacon, or enjoy as is!
1 tube of jimmy dean hot sausage
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp AP flour
2 cups milk
Pepper as needed
1. Brown sausage in cast iron pan
2. In a separate sauce pan, melt 2 tbsp of butter. Once melted, add 2 tbsp flour. Mix together to make roux.
3. Add roux to sausage once it’s all browned and broken apart & mix together well.
4. With the stove on low/medium heat, add 2 cups of milk to mixture of roux and sausage. Stir well.
5. Add one tbsp of AP flour at a time to thicken up gravy as needed.
6. Add lots of pepper!
