Why we have kept our baby’s name a secret

Currently I am 23 weeks pregnant and only my husband and myself know our baby girl’s name! We have had our name picked out since 10 weeks and having it kept privately and between us has been the sweetest thing. But why did we keep it a secret?

• Reason Number 1: Choosing your baby’s name is a very exciting yet difficult time (at least it was for us). When choosing a name that we love enough to give our bundle of joy we wanted to decide without any opinions from others. Hearing others tell us they disliked the name we chose would have discouraged us greatly. But allowing my husband and I to say her name over and over and fall more in love with it has solidified our choice where we just know it’s the one!

• Reason Number 2: While we knew her name since 10 weeks, things like her middle name have changed since our original decision. Not telling anyone allows us to freely make these changes without having to report to others.

• Reason Number 3: Honestly it just felt good to keep it to ourselves for a little while and to build suspense and excitement for our families. But now that we know for certain that our name is the one we are doing a name reveal at our baby shower to begin to introduce our little one to the world! We love her name and can’t wait for others to know it and the meaning behind it!! 💖
