⚠️⚠️ Trigger warnings: She offs herself in the beginning of the story. (That’s how she makes it to the midnight library. Which isn’t a real thing!!!)⚠️⚠️

Skip the to the book review paragraph if you don’t care for my mini story time! 😅

I feel like I have to make that disclaimer because I don’t like reading books that depress me even more. I choose to ignore anything with depression and self harm. I use to enjoy a bunch of books like that when I was 16/17/18 and I feel now as a 27 year old, I really shouldn’t of been reading those books not then, not even now. I was scared to read the midnight library at first because it felt tooooo relatable and it was… A lot of my depression comes from my past and regrets. This book was an eye opener.. and I think everyone who thinks “what if” should give it a read too.

THE BOOK REVIEW:

Nora was depressed, had no motivation and potential in life. She regretted so much and always wished her life was better then it is. (relateableeeee)

one day she decided to just give up and she did the unspoken deed.. she jumped into the library filled with books answering those ‘what if’ questions. What if she swam professionally, what if she married that guy, what if she said yes to a coffee date, what if she did leave the country. What if what if what if. The options are endless, and all though not always relatable to me personally, I found something to relate to in every chapter. It really made me feel secure and happy in my own life and choices. Made me realize that if I didn’t do what I did I wouldn’t be where I am. Even tho I’ve worked hard to remind myself it was nice having a book validate them.

I do want to make it very clear that she tries ends her life, she enters a world in between that gives her all the answers we as humans would love to have but it’s just a story and I think the author failed to mention that point because if read this at 17/18… I would of wanted my own midnight library and there is none on the other side… you’re just gone. So this book is good in storytelling but it talked about major issues that weren’t fully addressed properly.

I still think if you’re curious enough to dive into Nora’s library. I do think you’ll finish the book grateful for your loved ones, the people/creatures around you and most importantly yourself.
