did we found the best handmade pasta in rome?

If you want to eat well in a big city like Rome, it pays to do a little homework before you go. Like any place, there are so many restaurants, it’s difficult to know how to separate the good from the ‘meh’. Generally, the restaurants smack bang in amongst the main tourist sights are the most expensive places to eat, and the least authentic. Hunting down the restaurants the locals eat at is the best way to ensure you’ll be eating something delicious. And once you do find that place, I can guarantee you there’ll be a line at the door ( a good sign it’s a good restaurant, but often means you don’t get a chance to find out why).

Found this handmade pasta which had tons of rave reviews - Osteria Da Fortunata. You can spot 2 of their staff sitting beside the window and watch them roll their pasta.

The restaurant opens at 12pm so being the kiasu singaporean, we arrived 15 mins earlier before they opened. We were pretty lucky, we managed to get a table and 30 mins right after opening, the restaurant is filled with customers.

We ordered:

- Ragu Gnocchi (4/5 rating)

- Ragu Fettuccine (3/5 rating)

- Strozzapreti Carbonara (3.5/5 rating)

For me, the Gnocchi is a MUST order. It’s cooked to perfection, we were so full half way through the meal. If you’re going to Rome and looking for a restaurant that guarantees good hearty authentic meals, you can’t go wrong with Osteria Da Fortunata.
