Hidden Gem in Square 2…??🤭🤭

📍 Hansang Korean Family Restaurant

My Bf and I were just in the novena area and discussing what to eat (always the hardest question of the day😵‍💫) So per usual we searched up the top-rated restaurants in square2 and stumbled across this one!

Ambience: The restaurant is pretty big, with one side for K BBQ, and another if you are dining without BBQ. Upon entering the restaurant, the Korean lady boss greeted us with a huge smile, followed by explaining the promo of the day, their signature dishes, and finally the ordering process! That’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for service already amiright 🤭

but… NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THE FOOD 😛😛

🍽️ Mixed Beef Bulgogi: (3.5/5)

This dish comes with 3 sides(Banchan) + choice of rice

1. Kimchi

2. Long Green Beans in sauce

3. Crunchy Fried caramelised lotus root 🤤🤤🤤

✔️Overall my bf thought the dish was cooked well, beef was not too overcooked/undercooked.

🔻However, We thought the dish was too sweet and could be toned down a little.

🍽️ Sundubu Jjigae (5/5)

This dish also came with 3 sides(Banchan) + choice of rice

1. Oi Muchim (Spicy Cucumber salad)

2. Sigeumchi Namul (Korean Spinach)

3. Crunchy Fried caramelised lotus root 🤤🤤🤤

✔️Ho Ho this was my dish. The lady told us that Sundubu was one of their signatures as their tofu was handmade.

I LOooooooVe tofu, so immediately knew I had to order it! The soup carried a tinge of 🌶️ without being too overpowering, hence those with a low spice tolerance can also try this as well! They had many types of Sundubu (eg, seafood, pork, vegetarian etc.). I chose the vegetarian one and it consisted of radish, zucchini, egg, kelp, and of course tofu! I thought it was just a vegetarian soup, hence wouldn’t keep me full for long, but wow! I was still full at dinner time 🤭

🔻Maybe can let the customers know to mix well the soup before consuming, as midway through my meal I dug my spoon into the soup and there were big chunks of sauce below. >.<

🍽️ Kimchi Jon (3.5/5)

✔️ Was not too oily, It was not too salty as well. Remember to add the sauce on the side!

🔻 It tasted like just a typical korean pancake you can find outside, nothing special about it.

Would I go again? Yes, if I’m craving Korean food and a good well balanced meal. Highly recommend their Sundubu! But I would be more careful when choosing the other dishes, as the Kimchi Jon felt very typical which was a little disappointing.

Nonetheless, It’s hard to find good restaurants with good service as well. Do give them a try if you’re at Novena area & let me know how it goes! P.S. they have lunchtime promo too!🤭
