Locs thinning and falling out!?

Okay yall so I’ve been trying to decide on whether or not if I should get #locs . I already wear twist and they look enough like locs to keep me somewhat satisfied. The main two reasons I say I won’t get locs is bc ima miss my curls and fro/puff ball. And the simple fact that almost every person that has had locs and did the whole journey, a few locs thinned out and fell out. They said it was normal and that it happens to almost everybody that does the #locjourney . Is that true? Hoe do you stop it?
