my favourite hotpot place ❤️❤️❤️

if you’re having hotpot, you HAVE to find a good chinese place for the sesame paste... 芝麻酱是火锅的灵魂 🤭 i have been a huge fan of guo fu hotpot and was finally able to visit after their relocation to guoco tower !!! was super super excited because i heard it was a huge upgrade to its interior…

they used to only accept orders from the qr code, but now there’s a wall where you can obtain vegetables and processed foods like cheese tofu, making it way more convenient compared to before 🤓 they still take qr code orders for meat and seafood items to prevent wastage but the ability to get some food ourselves makes it feel more like a buffet setting 🤪 their soup bases aren’t included in the buffet price, and different bases come with different costs but it’s worth noting that the soup bases are individual pots !!! you can top up $3++ for a personal yuan yang pot too if you want more soup options 🤩

we got the tomato and mild spicy soup, and while the mild spicy soup was tasteless and disappointing, the tomato soup had a hint of sweetness which reduced the sourness of the tomato, which was a pleasant surprise 🤭 had to add some seafood sauce (海鲜酱) into the mild spicy soup though… that was a little saddening but it did not dampen our spirits as we DEVOURED the pork belly and sliced beef

all the ingredients were of a similar quality compared to last time, and the service was just as superb 😎 their xlb also came very quickly and was really juicy, unlike other places which tend to skimp on the quality of their xlb or have extremely long waiting times for it 😍 this was the major selling point which drew me to the restaurant as i am a HUGE xlb lover especially when its free flow...

however do note that access to their free flow drinks requires an additional top up of $3++, but a hack that i’ve learnt over my multiple visits is that their pumpkin puree can be an amazing substitute for a drink, because it’s sweet, has minimal pumpkin taste and is cold 🤣 a quick sip here and there can keep the thirst away until you finish your meal 😁 however ll did not like it because it was too sweet for her and had no pumpkin taste but i feel that it works great as a thirst quencher oops

i don’t think anyone will be very interested in this part but there’s a loyalty point system where $1 spent is worth 1 point and 1000 points (700 in the past) gets you a lifetime vip card which lets you have a 10% discount off the normal hotpot price and also one free adult buffet on your birthday (both are exclusive of soup bases and drinks and other top ups) and yes i am crazy enough to have spent >$700 at this place… went back this year for the free adult buffet and will probably continue to do so every year because it's so worth it... they let you continue stacking points even with the free adult buffet so i can redeem other things hehe

they offer a deluxe buffet for $30++ per pax which includes everything in the original buffet with sliced beef short ribs, sliced striploin beef and sliced special pork, but honestly their original buffet already contains so many items which makes this top up seem unnecessary 🫣 for those that are not looking for a buffet, guofu also offers set meals ranging from $25.90++ to $39.90++ which does not seem that worth it as well because you can just top up around 10 dollars for the original buffet... 😅
